The Knoxville community has identified key problems for its elderly and youth. Generation 2 Generation provides the how-to for your group to meet those needs of its members and to attract new members. Together with a shared vision, and a common goal, needs will be met, lives will be changed.
Join with us! Together, we are Closing The Gap.

What you can expect

  • SCHAS staff will help you "customize" Generation 2 Generation for your organization according to the needs and interests of your participants.
  • Each volunteer, whether young or old, will recieve -- and give -- in the areas he/she prefers. This give and take creates a service exchange and provides opportunities for relationship building among individuals.
  • You will have the opportunity to participate with your mentor/partner and your group in an end-of-the-summer celebration for Generation 2 Generation.
  • There are no fees! A need to recieve and a desire to give are the only "charges" for membership.

A Description of the Project

Who: SCHAS is partnering with local churches, schools, and civic groups to shed new light on the subject of aging. From this new focus on aging as an intergenerational issue, the program Generation 2 Generation was born. The project is composed of regular people, both young and old, that make up any community in the Knoxville area.

What: Generation 2 Generation is a volunteer oppurtunity designed to meet the various and often similar needs of both youth and seniors through service exchanges and mentoring opportunities. Generation 2 Generation will provide a format in which those needs can be met.

Where: Usually group activities will be conducted in individual homes or apartment buildings in the Knoxville area. Clientele will be elderly or disabled persons with limited resources.
